Construction of the new Moeraki Boulders toilet block is set to begin on Monday 27th January 2025.
The toilets will be of the same design as those elsewhere in the District such as at All Day Bay and Shag Point and improve the Moeraki car-park site, keeping one of our important local attractions and UNESCO Waitaki Whitestone Geopark sites clean and hygienic.
Landscape planting will be made around the new block once it’s installed.
Funding contributors to this project include the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), Department of Conservation (DOC) and Te Rūnanga o Moeraki, with Waitaki District Council undertaking oversight and project management.
The contract for the work has been awarded to Weston based Specialised Services Group, following drafting and building consent work from Brenda Reading of Oamaru firm Apex Home Design.
Construction of the toilets is expected to take no more than four weeks.
