The four local Lions Clubs in the Waitaki held the Junior Speech Contest on Sunday. The contest was open to all school in the North Otago area. 17 young people took part, ranging from year 5 to year12. These 17 entertained the audience of parents, family, and members of the Lions Clubs .

All participants spoke extremely well on a wide range of topics, theses topics ranged from the Enjoyment of camping, What was unique in North Otago to Colonization of the Moon and Mars.

Judges Fay Daniels and Faye Ormandy both found it difficult to separate the speakers as all who spoke were of a high standard and they to were impressed by the range of topics to how the entrants presented their speeches.

We appreciate the school's that took the time to encourage their pupils to entry and we hope that next year we will get more participation from more schools.
